  1. Texting via your computer + iPhone + iPad and all the messages arriving on everything is great. Until you lend the iPad to the wife and text your girlfriend.

    Yes. What you're thinking.

  2. Finder is a bit sh*te - I never use it. I don't know why they don't fix it. I use PathFinder: have to pay for it, but it does just about everything, file-wise.

  3. Oooh, tell me more. Is it compatible with Snow Leopard?

  4. Here y'go. 30-day free trial, but only $35-ish to buy. A bit like Win File Explorer, but with more features (which you never use ;)). Worth the money, I'd say, as Finder is so useless.

Any reason why you're still on Snow Leopard? I find Mavericks works just fine on my MacBook Pro.

<edit> Ooops, it's $40. Still worth it, tho' IMHO

  5. Only reason I'm still on Snow Leopard is because it's a 2010 unibody Macbook with Core 2 Duo, 2Gb of RAM and a 25oGb HDD and so at the very bottom end of the minimum system requirements for Mavericks. I've also been looking at boosting the RAM to 8Gb before upgrading. It was also until recently important for me not to do anything to bugger it up because I used it for work, even though it's my own computer. Now work have given me a 2013 Macbook Pro Retina 13", so I can turn my attention to upgrading it.

  6. Worth keeping a eye out on fleaBay for folk flogging off their old MacBook RAM - plenty around, so you might get a mild bargain. I got 8Gb used for considerably less than new.

    Mmmm...Retina display....:)

  7. Cheers, I'll keep an eye out for that.

And yes, the Retina display is nice. :) Got one on my iPad too.

  8. Retina displays are rather amazing :)

  11. how do you link your iphone to macbook so you can text?? i have 4s and 2009 unibody but beggard if i know how they work together :/

  12. Go to the Messages app on your MacBook (or download it from the app store)
Go to Preferences and tell it your Apple id and password
Enable your Apple id as your message default.

Hey presto - text messages through your computer.

HOWEVER it is just iMessages that will work, so essentially texts to other iPhone/Pad users. My job is getting jobs for graphic designers, so that's virtually everyone!

  13. Yep, def get iMessages working. On your iPhone, if the person at the other end hasn't got an Apple account, it'll send a straight text message over the network instead.
