So our lass has just upgraded her 4s to a 5 something  I've never had or used an iphone before, I'm used to Samsung smart phones they do what it says on the tin, anyway she says here have this 4s and see how you get on o_O I'm two days in and apart from face time what do they do that other android phones cant, is it a big con, have apple brainwashed people into thinking their stuffs amazing, whats better coz I just don't see it, I can't even download my own music onto my own phone :(

  3. i remember that feeling but the operating system is 'intuitive' and easy in the end. just have a play with it. hold down the bottom button and siri will help you through :)

  4. Just good marketing!

  5. I just changed 3 months ago to the Nexus 5 with Kit Kat. I've had the 4 the 4s and the 5 and thought I would wait for the 6 so bought the nexus handset. I phone is much better although it does cost. I'm not an Apple person so its not a love or marketing thing is just better!

It's a bit like if Aldi had invented Denim jeans everybody would swear by them, all of a sudden a new company called levi comes along but nobody would dare to wear em, cheap rubbish they'd say

  7. Design is pretty good too but not sure functions are any better

  8. Always used Samsung/Android phones. Seem to do just as must as the Iphone but less smug about it (and you can do crazy things like take out the battery and borrow other people's chargers).

  11. i was always an android user, the tech geeks phone but apple is definitely more intuitive. and don't be fooled... all phones store location data etc

Apple is the Nike of the phone world, better marketing, selling less features for more money. iPhones are the fisher price of the phone world, functional, easy to use and anybody can use them.:)

i love the i phone but my work phone is android nokia lumia, it's more useful than the i phone but i just can't take to it, i devices are so infectious once you get into them, agree though it's annoying having to use i tunes for music then sync to actually put them on the phone.

I don't understand the problem! I've had iPods for music for many years. I used to have a blackberry for work and carry my music around on an iPod. It's like the wash and go advert, take two bottles into the shower? Now I have an iPhone I have all my music and phone on one device. It communicates with my car and the van seamlessly.
Add to that some apps (spotify) and job's a good'un.

If you're very much used to iOS / Android / Windows, the other will seem a bit alien and it's easy to question the additional value. I'm a devout iPhone user and really struggle when someone puts an Android phone in my hand and the swiping is less intuitive, different home settings, etc.....

I understand that the Apps for iOS are more widespread and offer more (maybe not better) choice. I think also, having invested in the iPhone infrastructure (apps, iTunes music, etc) it is very difficult to get out of it!

My only real gripe with iOS on iPhones and iPads is that you can't utilise a windows style form of document control (you can do it with Dropbox, i know), which is the only thing that stops me replacing my laptop with an iPad.

  18. I've got a nexus 7 and an iPad. Not sure why just fancied them and I find the nexus is a lot more buggy and needs restarting far more than the iPad. Apples software seems to work just that little bit better and like has been said it also feels that little bit more intuitive.

Point in hand for me is that my dad is 60 and is a plater/welder by trade. He has never had to use technology and when I gave him my iPad he could work it without much problem but when he lent my nexus he couldn't work it out anywhere near as easily and there was a lot of phone calls asking how to do things.

As a side note all of my friends were iPhone users and 3 within the last 2 months have swapped to the nexus 5.

  19. I've been an IPhone user for about 3 years, had a blackberry before that and we as a household have become proper apple junkies since
The kids have IPods, the wife has a 5, i have my works iPad the other year we change the home computer to a Mac
I just find the apple stuff easy to use and pretty much trouble free
iTunes took some getting use to, but now it's easy sorting out the music, apps, books, etc on the various devices

  20. I've got an iPad but I've never been tempted to get an iPhone. The main issue I have with iOS is that it's just that little bit too nannying. The designers of the software have decided what you should be able to do with moving and managing files and how you should do it, and if you want to do it a different way which is more intuitive to you, then tough. I find that just a bit too restricting. Also, the later the version, the bolder they seem to be in taking this approach. To be fair, they're just like this with OSX too, and I find that the Finder window (the equivalent to Windows Explorer for anyone using a PC) lets you do less and less in terms of file management, the later the version of OSX. I can do far more with my Macbook running Snow Leopard than I can with my work's Macbook Pro running Mavericks. It's almost as if they are designing it to make sure that all the numpties don't cock it up, but taking no account of the fact that there are some of us with a reasonably high level of competence with computers, who therefore need a reasonable amount of freedom to do what we need to do.
