If you rode your bike here you would die. Even the adults cycle on the pavement. It's a shame but there is a new generation of car drivers who do not understand that there might be a bike around the next corner because there never is.

  7. i did nt think scoucers spoke like that lol did ye not take a pic of his reg and report pedo taking pics of children ? owen nw:thumbsup:

  8. that's half the trouble...as cycling makes a comeback, without the infrastructure and change in mindset, it's inevitable that more people will be killed or injured...you only have to look to the continent to see how sheer numbers changes everyones driving style....

  9. No, but I said he'd be ill advised to take photographs of the children without their parents written consent.....which he didn't like

The trouble is that it's a vicious circle constantly feeding upon itself. People perceive cycling to be dangerous so they do it less. Drivers see less and less cyclists so they lose the habit of looking out for them. This makes cycling more dangerous so less people cycle. Training drivers to understand that they SHARE the road with other users is a start and I do my bit when I'm training my drivers but I think cyclists should be given much more prominence in the minds of drivers. I don't know how effective a TV campaign would be but I suspect it wouldn't alter the behaviour of many of the aggressive anti bike drivers.
I'm definately very right wing when it comes to driving, I believe driving is a privilege and not a right and I'd have mandatory re tests for a whole raft of bad driving behaviour.

  11. I'd just like to say I'm not anti cycling. I've ridden many dodgy bikes. ;)
Seriously. If I came upon a group of kids having a cycling lesson I would give them all the room in the world. What that prick did to vanoraks class is incomprehensible. GoPro for the win.

I know four wheel and above drivers can be dangerous ( some ) but I'm of the mind I will NOT give up the road for the pavement just so they can win.

  13. I'd vote for mandatory re testing every five years tbh.....regardless of bad driving behaviour....it could be linked to reduced premiums

Not enough testers or test stations.

  15. job creation....

  16. when you see how courier riders ride in londonia , they could do with a good telling .................... too . i hate riding on the roads now , but that said i was knocked off my bike when i was a lad by a geeerman coming across a stop line in road , hands n knees across the road i went , shout ing you bar steward idyot

  17. The jobs are there.
It takes weeks/months to get a driving test round Oxford. The test stations struggle to keep up with demand.

  18. It's a pity that some cyclists give them all a bad name. Like the ones who don't think that red lights apply to them.

So would I but until I become King we have to tread softly. We'll start on retesting the bad drivers and then, when I'm King and you're Prime Minister, we'll crack down hard.
Actually, when that happy day arrives I have a few other things I'll need to implement such as........

......but I'll keep those quiet until the time is right.
