It reminds me a of a quote I heard associated with Gordon Brown (though I can't find a link so might have been someone else).

If you want people to lose weight, poison all the chocolate.

And that is how hard this gamblers and charlatans are willing to work.

I know a joke about a shop owner coming into some money, involving a till and a lady shop assistant, but this might not be the place...

As a one time economics graduate, back when they had sovereigns and guineas, I know that interest rates must always follow inflation upwards, otherwise the rich would get significantly poorer, and we couldn't be having that could we?

Smart money should soon start going into classic vehicles, particularly when planned heavy restrictions to Capital Gains Tax allowances bite (private motor vehicles are exempt from CGT, unlike most other appreciating assets other than the house you actually live in). I'm not sure about house boats, before Zed asks.

    I blame that lettuce woman.

Spot on. However it significantly hurts the less well off on a limited budget with loans etc , and they’re the larger number!

And yet some people still follow the blue team.

My mate is not in politics. However, he is in Army Clothing ( not wearing it, selling it).
Recently he has had orders for MTP pattern uniforms , for Ukraine.
He’s just bought a Ford Mk7 camper, Holdsworth conversion, on the profits. He makes money from wars.
