Certainly not missed all the work related stresses over the past few years.
One can almost understand those few that make a career out of signing on.

  2. The big six zero isn't until next July, old chap. I'm hoping for a cordless polisher ... let's hope I have been good this year ... probably get a new microwave
My 13yr old son had covid last weekend and friends wife tested positive today so that is tomorrows party cancelled. Hope you have a great covid free Christmas and enjoy your days off.

    What if you weren’t in?
Would you leave it on your doorstep?

    Oh yea
Just because they Can’t even get any of the younger people to do the work in the first place
Probably will just up the retirement age
    That is their usual trick

I’m hoping, that with a good diet, and a healthy lifestyle,I will still be working until I’m at least 70.

  11. Irrelevant ... I'm 60 next year.

  12. You'll still have that army sleeping bag then as well, if you hold out for £80 & p&p

  13. Is that you done then, or would you consider a bit of part time? I'm 57 next year and already down to contract/interim work, but I find doing asset condition surveys quite exhausting now.

  14. So you don’t get your pension till 67 either added on 2 years for you
    As well then,
My wife was hit with the moving of women’s pension also,
I will probably work to 70+
Well I will if I want to maintain any standard of living

  15. There's a choice now that most of us on here are fortunate to have - downsizing to release equity to live off?

Might even be enough/equivalent to buying an annuity via the conventional pension route?

  16. You end up with Rheumatoid Arthritis

Sixty six now and closing in on sixty seven (April). I’ve slowed down the work / wages train for the last four or five years and have been working locally less than ten minutes away from home as a customers delivery driver for a supermarket called Asda. Started off at five days a week Sunday to Thursday at various shifts, that have finally evolved into working days only, then after April last year I lost another day down to four days a week. The pay is minimal at just over a tenner an hour but the work is very physical and demanding and enormously satisfying especially when you help out someone by taking into the kitchen for them whether it’s a frail older person or someone with a bad back or anybody in the family way. I’m extraordinarily lucky in that I kept working through all of it to retain my own version of sanity and even luckier in that I’m able to.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,, plus I got an early, livin the dream :)

Hard work really dosnt bother me. The way I see it,people pay to go to the gym,I just get free money,as a job isn’t work, if you enjoy it.
I love what I do, after working in places I ‘didn’t mind’ working in, because at that time, I had to, to help us buy our house, feed the kids, etc.
Done all sorts. Scaffolding, builders labourer, factories, mechanics, etc. I think it all keeps me young. I may or may not end up with health issues, injuries, who knows?
55 next year, and still look and act way younger, or so I’ve been told.
    Time will tell,I guess.
And I think, that hopefully,I’ve got to the stage where I really don’t need to earn ‘big money’, as I have a pot to poss in,and a window to throw it out of,unlike the kids a third of your age.;):)
