Just drive the A43 past Silverstone on a Sunday and they are all there.. amusingly sticking to 65 mph , probably because either their plastic smacks down on the bumps or they have all been pulled over at some time.. or the fact 4 lads are in the Micra and it has a fart can doesnt mean it goes much quicker than my bus.

That bit by Rownhams is where my Morris Marina indicated 100mph in about 1985.

and where my brand new S3's engine let go after 1200 miles.
I 'may' have been accelerating 'quite hard' - a total engine swap was required!

Not run in, seized through rapid heating ? The Marina rewarded me nby emptying the fuel tank over the exhaust. Rust jammed the carb. float down..

1200 miles of careful driving to run it in. timing chain tensioner snapped and the valves apparently went freeform jazz styleeee

I had to try to overtake an artic on the inside lane with no power to get to the hard shoulder

Argh.. my brother had a motorbike throw the chain out in a similar position once.

And finish overtaking two HGVs from lane 3 to the hard shoulder on the M4 with the poptop half up after the bow wake from the HGVs overtaking each other in lanes 1 and 2 popped the catches driving into a gale at 60 mph...

Hmm I’ve had a timing belt tensioner go… admittedly after more like 120000 miles, but it was annoying none the less…. And cost more than the car was probably worth to put right (£900!!)
