I need a series landrover and she needs a beetle.... problem is, I know what I'm looking at with a landrover, whereas I'm a bit clueless with a beetle

You use the word 'need'. I doubt you need a Land Rover or a Beetle.

This made me laugh - my wife has a 1971 beetle as her daily driver. I'm allowed to drive it if I'm very good!

I've a shed full of VW bit and tools - both the van and beetle have the same 1600 tp engine so makes maintenance easier!!
