Don't listen to 'em Malc, buy it and be happy, i remember how joyus you felt freezing your nads off in a shed fixing rhubarb, the fun you had finding one year only parts, the cash you shelled out on getting a man to weld it, the tiredness you felt working on it while you'd just come off nights, after that getting a rare split with 50% of the bits missing and no hope unless you're rich of finding them should prove an easy task

    p.s i'm telling lou.

this shattered dream has been brought to you by johhny hates jazz xxx

  5. If it was a real dream id buy it ,if the money wasnt an issue?? but if it is ?? i wouldnt. If it were cheaper it would look nice done up a bit and turned into a shabby chic summerhouse at the bottom of the garden, that way you could live the dream when ever you liked and save on fuel and running costs. You could fit sound effects too  VW shabby chic garden houses could be a nice little earner maybe O0

  6. Hey, here's something for you Malc. Why not start putting some cash aside to finance your dream in future? Don't just buy the first SO, whatever it's called, you happen to see. Bide your time, save some cash, do your research. And somewhere in the future, you'll come across a real steal, something way, way better than what you've got your eye on now. My future project will be a Series 1 Jag E-Type FHC, circa '66. But that's three of so years off right now - got to save the cash first and am biding my time for a real bargain to come along. Cash is King. And the best things come to those who wait. Oh, and another thing, like the E-Type, there's lots of solid decent Splitties going very cheap in the USA. Combine searching for one with a holiday and import your own. You'd save thousands that way.

  15. Oh and if you buy a split can i come round and knock all the rot out of it for you >:D

  17. In all honesty though ive been tempted of late to get a split and i dont really like them

However no road fund tax,not mot fee soon and classic insurance aswell

That means i could run one just for the cost of fuel and parts

I think i would have got the same of the same type of response's if i had posted up pictures of Rhubarb pre restoration tbh , it is a bit mental this restoration lark , but now i have a 1972 t2b rhd Westfalia continental in its entirety .

Nowhere near as rare as a so23 in its entirety but still very nice , i don't know how rotten the one in the link is yet as the pictures are not showing the chassis , i can't see how anyone else can either .

My guess is it has a reasonably solid base , it looks very dry where its stored :-

After my fau paux with Rhubarb i won't be rushing in to buy another complete rotter :)
