Malc, did you sleep on it? Have you come to your senses this morning? Think of the time, trouble and cost. Massive. Think of all the time, trouble and cost you went through with your Bay and multiply it by 10.
Travelling in a fried-out Kombi You should get. Otherwise, when you are old and your hands are arthritic and withered, and you struggle to open a tin of beans let alone hold a spanner, you will rue the day you let that SO23 go to someone else and get restored. Take it man, its Karma time
Take a decko at this link and you will see what i mean -- http://www.ssvc.org.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=60321&start=0 i bet i'm not the only one with eyes on stalks watching that one . with proper westfalia material they look stunning
I don't think anyone would say that a finished one is not nice. I think what most people are saying is the one you are looking at is bucks, has loads of parts seemingly missing and would cost internal organs to get finished in terms of finances and time. Go to shows and enjoy them, or spend hours rummaging through rusty crap that the guy then asks for one of your testicals to pay for? Up to you!! Plus, from what I can tell, you have a bay to finish young man!
A man needs a hobby post bay ( the best vw camper ever btw ) and now i have dipped my toe in the ocean of vw repair , i am kinda hooked.
The only thing thay makes this particular one an SO whatetever, is the hole in the roof. You'd need to acquire EVERYTHING else. As these are rare do you suppose there are many original interiors for sale out there? I'd guess not.
Mat , i have driven splits ,quite a dew , I've been around vws since 76 ,just never restored one before Rhubarb , i atill know nothing they are poor i agree , but its a interior i,love i know a bit about them too, shh say nothing
And you were telling me to be content with what i have and stop looking for the next thing lol Youll be under it cutting and grinding all the time instead of going camping in your bay Then when all the missing parts have you so skint youll have to sell the bay to spend the money on the split The grass isnt allways greener on the other side
