I have an old computer that has loads of stuff on it both financial & business. It's not connected to the internet and I want to permanently delete all files or flatten it beyond retrieval before I get rid. Has anyone any idea, ideally suited for an idiot of how to do this? Ta Sean PS I know I can hit it with a hammer but it's the data I want mashed not the metal particularly... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I too am not computer savvy but I believe unless a hardrive disc is destroyed/shattered/smashed/melted, some data could still be forensically retrieved (not all 4 methods, just one of them).
Some hard drives shatter when bashed with a hammer and others I think are aluminium and need to be cut up. Even info that a program says it cannot be retrieved infact can, permanent delete=destruction. .
Or simply give it to my missus. Any piece of high technology will cease to function three minutes after she lays her hands on it.
Another for hard drive out and hammer. Totally free way of doing it. I totally undid an old work server drive and cut up the platters but it is overkill for a home computer. Or take it out and keep it. Always useful for a backup. Can connect via USB drive holder in the future if needed.
Chuck it into the middle of a body of water. Nobody will ever know. Do you have a woodburner, fire it up and all your sin will burn with it but remember, the 'dark web' knows the colour of your *******
Yep, if you delete it but I think that you can write over and flatten it. Just don't know how Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
