am looking to get the devon bunk frames and a clip on buddy seat frame powder coated, any ideas how much is a reasonable price? i'd also like to get my wheels done, again what's a decent price?
I'm not a fan of powder coating for exterior parts - if the rust gets under it, it just spreads and lifts off the coating. No idea on cost for powder coating, wheel places normally charge £60 per wheel for a repaint.
Hi ermintrude ! , just got my steel wheels shotblasted and powder coated for £30 per wheel ! complete wheel covered front to back like new 8)
Hiya Ermintrude. Make sure your wheels are shot blasted before being powdercoated. We paid £40 per wheel. It seems the price varies between £40-£50 per wheel. What colour are you going for?
thanks for the tip, will makes sure the wheels are shot blasted first. well, the bunk frames and buddy seat are costing nothing to do and the wheels will be £20 each. It's my cousin's firm and he did point out that power coating wheels will rust out where the 'crease' is. but i think it'll be worth a try. not having it done yet so time to think about it, colour etc. want to give him some money for doing the bunk and seat frames but not sure how much, don't want to insult him. not seen him for years but one of few firms that do powder coating around here.
Wheels vary in price greatly... £30 is as cheap as you can get it done, but that is generally with the tire already off... £45 with the tire on... And that's a rough costing... as for the other bits it's going to depend on blasting time, so the bigger/more fiddley that they are, the more it'll cost... but if you get the whole lot done at once, in the same colour, they usually give you a bit of a discount... I'd budget for around the £200 mark if you get them done all the same colour (white?)
citypowdercoat had an offer of 20 pound per wheel. stripped shot blasted and coated.. i had my beetle wheels done for 80 quid. others charge as wilma said.
I can get a full set of alloys or other wheels etc blasted and powder coated for 80-90 pounds depending on colour etc . Other parts can be done cheap too
