When we make your curtains we'll be making tie backs for you too... it depends on whether you want to drill a hole to teach them? Otherwise use velcro. But in our bus we use some powerful neodymium magnets to stick the tie back to the pillar
I like the idea of magnets, but would they attach if there's headlining-type materials already fitted around the window areas? I did think of PMing you about this but just wanted to get as many other ideas first and was hoping you'd make a post By the way, just to keep you posted, the material should arrive at your place in about 7 days time.

We have curtains from Delilah which attach only by magnets (and these are not flimsy curtains) - I can vouch for the magnets

They're not curtains dearest, they are blinds :

Curtains pull across, blinds pull down.

And there starteth and indeed endeth my entire domestic/wifely knowledge.

So I could hide them - upside down sprung roller blinds. I haven't finished yet, I'm building them into my furniture.
