How are your curtains fastened?

My curtains are the original ones so are faded and part brown part green where the pigmentation has faded out of them over years of sun, they are drawn by pulling them along the old curtain wire that your mom used tho hang net curtains with so she could spy on the neighbours.....and the front screen one uses pop fasteners and it gapes in certain places and i have to jam it behind the visors and mirror to block out the sun/peeping toms, anyway later this year i want to replace with curtain track of some kind and also i'm toying with a curtain between the seats and the rear area so i don't have to bother with the front one at all, please give me your ideas on the pro's and con's of curtain ideas so i do it once and do it properly, also i would appreciate your views on the reflective sheets you fasten to the inside of your windows although i've steered clear of these as 2 of the windows are westy louvres and one is 3/4 blocked by the wardrobe so a full set is a bit of a waste.
    Thanks, Rick.

  2. I'm going to run mine on those Silent Gliss rails. To keep the curtains fixed when closed I'm going to use magnets sewn into their bottoms. To keep them fixed when open, I'll use those little pop fastener things. The curatin behind the wardrobe will be fixed.

If your front / cab curtains are long enough, and have magnets sewn in them too, you can easily fix them to your dash top. I would never go for curtains between the seats because you'd make the back of your bus feel that little bit more claustrophobic. I'd never bother with those reflective sheets either. If it's morning sunlight you're worried about, just get some black-out material to go between your curtain liner.

  3. Not sure what the tracking is but it looks like original Devon conversion style curtain track - would like to find a good replacement as this is not very good its a bit stiff and catches the little plastic curtain hooks that are supposed to slide through it!

We made some spanking new lined curtains for Tilly and for the tie backs we used rare earth neodynium magnets - there fantastic but very dangerous. As in the high strength ones will nip like buggery and cause needles to do mean things when there being sewn in!! (Glue wont work!) and the really strong ones if snapped together from a distance can break fingers (they can have a pulling weight of over 20KG each!!) so be very very careful with them. Oh and keep them away from TVs, Digital Media, Pacemakers and of course credit cards!!

I bought ours from http://e-magnetsuk.com/magnet_products/neodymium_magnets/?gclid=CIO1juq_864CFWwntAodwwq3IQ really helpful chap owns the company Iv also bought right diddy little ones for model making.

  4. I've just used the original curtain rails and fitted new curtains to that.

The curtains are lined with black out liner, so everything is nice and dark, and keeps some of the heat in.
They have strong rare earth magnets so the stay closed where you need them to. and we just use tie backs when open

  5. Mine is a Silent Gliss rail, you use small self tappers to mount it all the way round , got the curtains and plastic runners from Camper Curtains, the magnets are built in, you get front back and sides in the pack, look good and easy fit. ;)

  14. I would keep the popper one for the front so you can maximise the cab space that is curtained off rather than having a curtain seperating the cab/sleeping area. If you use the front seats for storage at night then you'll probaby realise you need to get something out and its so much easier not having to move the curtain out of the way.

It also means you can get to the stereo easier if you like a bit of Barry White late into the evening.

We bought about 3 metres of material from Dunelm Mills and some poppers and its a fairly tidy job now! We do also tuck the curtain up behind the mirror and visors.
