Pootling to work this morning on the M62 in the beetle when we were totally blindsided by a lorry crushing us from the middle lane. He hadn't seen us, and as we were alongside him we hadn't seen him indicate (if he did even indicate) - first I knew about it was being crushed and then spun around and hit again by the cab and pushed up the motorway. A little scary to say the least. Thankfully we are both fine, although my arm which was on the arm rest right at impact point, is a bit tingly and sore. Martha hasn't fared quite so well, drivers door won't open and damage along the whole of the drivers side. Anyone got any opinions on whether it'll be a write off??
Crikey - bad luck. Luckily you're okay. Same thing happened to me in France but in an old beetle. The impact rippled through and it was a total write off.
oh my! glad you are ok ..... thats the main thing - it could have been far worse! bug - write off ....
Jeez, that sucks. At least you're ok, sounds like it could have been much nastier. That looks like at least three big, pricey panels to replace. Suppose it depends on how old the car is, but in my totally inexpert opinion I reckon they'll write it off. Sorry.
may be a right off, not for certain. the door and arches are easy to repair, the b pillar and rear 1/4 will be the decider, looks like £1500-2500 ish to repair so will depend on the value of the car, you are within your rights to have it repaired if you prefer or take a cash settlement, keep the car and arrange you own repair
they will write that off for sure, these beetles go for peanuts now, i've read of a few on evvo.com getting scrapped for less, can i have some bits? seriously glad you're ok and be thankful it wasn't the bus!
Oops. Glad you are ok though Get your arm checked as well. If Martha is scrapped it means you can get a proper coloured newbie next...ie mine!!
to be fair i'm only playing, i k+ zoe for a joke with my parts list though, you're just miffed it ain't a passat.
Scarey never mind about the car I 'd get yourselves a thorough check up. Some injuries can take time to manifest themselves and you were given a fair old spin there by the looks. I would insist you got through your insurance for that reason. Any days of work etc? If it is cat c or d'd you can buy it back I believe. Might be worth it for the parts. Take it easy S
