Hellooooooo. You may remember me an’ Margarita, the Moonraker I sold a couple of years ago. Well the camper bug hasn’t left me BUT I’m in the market for a T5 or 6 and wondered if you lads and lasses knew of a forum as fab and helpful (but not as funny I bet) as this one for me to ask some rookie questions? You will ask ‘why not a T2?’ Which’d be a damned good question. Answer is ‘im indoors, who never relaxed in Margarita and failed entirely to see her charm, good looks, excellent reliability etc etc. So if I’m to hit the open road WITHOUT a constant meaning noise from the passenger seat, it’s going to have to be a nearly new, highly expensive and characterless VW. Or might there be a few much-later-Bay experts on here?
I joined the T6 forum when we got our van, mostly for tips on conversion…. But in the end a recommended local company did the conversion for us so hardly ever went on it. But a good place for advice etc. Not a patch on TLB of course. We’re glad we went down the modern vehicle route though, no regrets here about selling the Bay

Here’s a tip if you get a T5 or T6, they’re brilliant and mostly very reliable. Have it serviced by a good reputable garage and if you have turbo issues have it done by VW because the removal and refit often causes issues lesser garages can’t cure cheaply. Ask me how I know! As for forums they’re all pretty pants and the Facebook ones are all pure self ego massaging. IMO
Hi Katy I reckon there’s that many folks on here with T5s and T6s, converted or not, that your as likely to find answers here if you ask! just don’t ask what oil to put in it or suggest that it should be lowered or have an engine change…. That’s real heresy! I’ve lurked on the T5forum, T6forum to get answers for common issues like why to avoid the early bi-turbos, which tuner to get a remap (pendle performance), how to stop the side windows leaking (you can’t) which lowering kit, which wheels, which stereo (VW RCD330) etc.
Well… maybe, axshully. I’ve seen lots of T5/6’s and they all seem to have this HIDEOUS grey-veined melamine (or whatever it is) interior sink/cooker carcass. I loathe it, which counts out 99% of the later VWs. What were they thinking? What’s wrong with 70s hearing-aid pinky beige?
This is the kind of thing! Was there one really good engine? Or one rubbish one? 110 or 150 bhp? BlueMotion or not? And WTAF is a bi-turbo?!
I don’t know whereabouts you are, but with the conversion company we went with in deepest darkest Yorkshire, if you wanted 70s hearing aid pinky magnolia, you could have it

How many tattoos and body piercings do you have? Are you a fan of drum’n’bass? Something to consider before buying a T5.
If you go for a 3 person rear seater on a T6 it'a standard double bed size ...the forfeit is narrower units
