That's enough to turn me - I'm in the out camp - idiots ,how many perfectly good cars do we just scrap ,do they work out the carbon footprint of producing all these ?
Never let the truth get in the way of a good story eh. I couldnt really care. I have the same mot requirements as a modern car and if itvwere decided i had to pay road tax on it then so be it. I wouldnt be happy but if thems the rules, thems the rules.
However...... Harmonised electrical colour codes i hate and the extensive requirement for rcds too. Cenelec grrrrrrrrr!
Yes, you can build a hoover or a kettle which uses less watts for a given voltage but for a given appliance, reďucing the voltage will also reduce the wattage. Are they doing this because we can't generate enough electricity to meet expected demand? Bring on those cheap French nukes!
The reason given was to make them greener but you could be right in thinking it's more about generating/supply.
So I am going green by hoovering the carpet twice because the stupid machine isn't powerful enough to pick up all the dust first time round; and the kettle will actually use more energy as it will take longer to boil and therefore have more time to waste energy through radiation. Am I the moron or what?
