  1. Hello I was hoping somebody can help me please

my driver side window has dropped and I can’t get it to lift up the left hand side is quite loose and lifts up but the right hand side is solid and I’m reluctant to force it cause I don’t want a thousand piece glass jigsaw

    any advice greatly appreciated

Take the inner door card cover off the door , take a look. If you are lucky all that has happened is the clamp on the bottom edge of the glass has rotted off.
Dont force the winder - if original its irreplaceable. Brazilian reproductions are weak and dont work as well..

The glass is just a piece of toughened glass, more are available off scrap busses.
Glass clamps are available .. or maybe the PO welded a rotten clamp already and the welds just snapped..

  3. Pretty sure what you’re suggesting is what’s happened and the clamp has rotted and now the glass is a couple of inches below where it should be and I can’t get it to lift (by hand) not using the winder

  4. I have the card off by the way

  5. Take the door card off and replace the glass lift clamp at the bottom.

  6. Can you buy the lift clamp separate ? I’m still struggling to get the glass up far enough to go into the lift clamp or am I doing something daft here??

Wind the winder down so the wreckage of the clamp is at the bottom. If its pressing on the glass, it could be locking it. Pull the glass off the clamp or push the vertical bar that the clamp runs on away from the glass. Glass is a bit springy, but it will break more easily if you scrape it.

Then try to wiggle the glass upwards into position ..

Go and hold it up with some duct tape , or prop it underneath with a bit of wood..

  8. Yes. Glass should slide up in the channel easily. Wind the winder down fully?

What I mean is you lower the glass into the clamp if you can- it may just need new rubber in the clamp and silicone lubricant on the felts around the window.
If you do get it back in, slacken the fixing bolts on the clamp, and then as you wind it up it should centre..
There are a couple of holes in the door skin near the top where AFAIR your shy and elusive 10mm socket can go to work on the bolts to tighten them.

If the clamp is totalled, prop the glass up and order another on next day delivery from Heritage...

  10. The glass is below the clamp resting on the bottom of the door and I can’t get it up to try and wedge it until I get another clamp

  13. Looks like there’s been a lot of silicon on the clamp and the clamp is completely rotted away at one side

  14. Glass hard down on bottom of door below the height of the lift bar

Take the clamp off - it may give you more room to wiggle the glass..

  16. Ok thanks I’ll try that in the morning

Looks like the glass has completely popped out of the front channel and is probably jammed between the rear channel and the door frame.
It’s pretty tough glass, try moving it forwards into the channel and it should slide up!

Then replace it again in 12 months as the spot welds often fail!
