It's my dad's phone on Tesco contract via o2. He rings or texts me no problem. I try to ring him and it comes up 'This number is not recognised, please replace the dial and try again. It happens even if I respond to his call or texts.

Last week he went to Tesco and asked them to check his phone for blocked calls etc. They told him he had no problem. He then discovered quite a few people can't contact him, back to tesco. They sold him a new phone and renewed his sim and contract. I still can't contact him. Same response when I call as before. Some people can, me and a few others can't. I have told him to go back and tell them.

Any ideas what's going on with this guys n gals?

Its your end Malc, your phone privacy setting might be hiding your mobile number.

My boss' mobile does the same, his is an iPhone 5S

I just tried from the landline again and have the same message. Number not recognised.

  9. Was gonna say but surely not ...............

  10. ^this, possibly. Root around in contacts or settings for "Own number". It'll be read straight from the SIM.

  11. If there are a number of people who can't contact him, and your landline also doesn't connect then the problem probably lies with your Dad's network settings (something that a new SIM may not resolve as O2 will simply "copy" the existing settings that his old SIM had). Unfortunately he needs to contact Tesco again to get this resolved.

(Unless you're all ringing the wrong number !! :-D )

(As an aside, this shouldn't have been a reason for Tesco to sell him a new contract (unless he really wanted one), as they could have issued a replacement SIM without it. If he didn't want one, he should still be able to return it and cancel any new contract ;-) )

Tried from sim, recall, message and typing it in.

  13. What is the handset?

There are normally "block" features to them.

Pretty much everything I have told him. He is on his way back to Tesco now - He is 75 and the kids that serve him are just grasping at straws as they don't seem to know much, hence asking on here.

I don't know tbh. It is a smart phone and they did look at his blocked caller list.

Try Settings > Phone > Show Caller ID

it should show green if it shows caller ID

    Dunno if that will work!

  17. Get him to call either Customer Care (0345 301 4455 or 4455 from your Tesco Mobile) or Technical support (0345 300 6660) rather than waste time with the sales staff in store.

When doesn't he? The last few weeks have seen me replace his bathroom sink, hang a door, clear his bedroom for new carpet and feed him and mum every sunday.

I wouldn't have it any other way :)

  20. Does the phone number you are ringing him from block the caller ID?
Some phone and networks have a setting that wont allow calls from blocked ID.
