Help...split pipe

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by edd1e1, Sep 28, 2012.

  1. Hello, I have a 2.0l Vege engine in my Bay (auto).

Just noticed when opening the small internal engine hatch from the back/boot area of my van that one of the pipes has split. Despite opening the main engine bay door several times in the last week, I haven't noticed whether the pipe was split or not and have driven almost 500 miles in the last week.

The van starts and drives still but am nervous about driving it now.

Can anyone tell me what this pipe is, what is does and what will happen if I drive it with it broken? (Sorry...bit of a novice).

  2. I think it's the air feed for the idle circuit... so you won't have done any damage!!

  3. As above, it should be a metal pipe and 2 elbows.

  4. Cool, thanks guys.

Have done some digging on the tinternet and as you suggest, breather pipe, from air filter. Will try and pick up a new one from Motobitz tomorrow

  7. Just out of interest. What are those silver pipes doing?

  8. you could put 2 plastic elbows into another rubber line... would be easier for you!! You should be able to get them from your motorfactors

I like the throttle return spring tension adjuster.
