Help! I've forgotten who said they had a stapler for door fabric they could bring to T/E's

That looks like either batting or wadding mainly used as a smoothing layer between the coconut seat pad & the seat cover to smooth out any harsh lines/edges but if it does the trick for you, why not? It's not ideal for door cards though as it is a little thin & will quite quickly lose it's 'spongeyness'.
