got tubs and arches off a Californian bay I'm chopping up, probably gonna be his best bet, I cant see tubs coming up any time soon
Been looking around for a Morris Minor, but decent ones cost more than a good Bay, its silly. Travellers with good woodwork fetch well over 10k. Saw a nice one for sale at the Senlac car show. it is a good one but they wanted 11.5k for it and they thought that was cheap.
I had one years ago and never let me down. They have a big following and lots of clubs. Dead easy to work on and I like the cool exhaust sound. I may just get a cheap one with mot for fun.
My best mate had one 30 years ago and we drove to Paris with mm owners club, he managed to hit 70 down hill
The way I see it is that I save ££££s every year on a summer holiday abroad. Two of us for two weeks with flights, hotels etc used to be £2k plus. So every year I figure I save £2k and I've had the van for nearly five years so, bingo. It's now a free bus and anything I sell it for will be profit. I tend not to analyse that approach too deeply, mind...
Blimey, I can remember when that sold for 30k and there was a lynch mob ready to hang him by the nuts for taking the proverbial. How times change. There doesn't seem to be a fixed price range at the mo, that I can see - some want realistic money for their buses and get it, some want stoopid money for their buses... and still get it.
10 grand for a low mileage well kitted T4 to go camping in, or the same for a good tinker mobile. New money controls the market.
As my neighbour pointed out yesterday when we were chatting about his pending T5 conversion. A T6 out of the factory kitted for camping can cost nearly 90k. And I expect the electric one will top £100k. His T5 conversion goes.. Buys a T5 with a bed." No dont need any more than a bed, we will use our tent and a cooker outside" Goes camping a few times...comes back this week.. "Found this place in Devon ... they will be fitting a slide out cooker and sink, fridge , leisure battery and hookup"
