just got a quote for a replacement led track mounted spotlight here for £350!!!! Who thinks actually installing this rubbish is sustainable.
Each to their own. Most of the stuff stuff I've looked at has been cheaply made tat. Things may have changed though as I no longer go there.
I fitted GU10 LED downlighters in my kitchen, 12 of them about 11 years ago now. Used them for about 2 days then replaced them for proper gu10 bulbs as the light/illumens from the LED ones was awful. I would urge everyone to Stick with the halogen ones if you want to be able to see past the age of forty two!!
You will probably find them fine now compared to early versions. I am old and of fading eyesight and have no problems at all with modern LED bulbs.
My current Halogen lamps are quite a yellowy light. The recommendations on-line seem to be to go for "Cool White" LEDs for kitchens which is a very white light. Is "Warm White" yellowy?
The "Warm Whites" I bought for main lightbulbs are just right. Can't remember what the "k" number is. Bright, but with a slightly yellow tinge. I have bought cool white ones in past, and they were awful.
I have warm white LEDs in my downlighters in the bus. They're 12v G4 bulbs, and they're nice and bright, and a familiar sort of slightly yellowy tinge, like old fashioned lightbulbs.
I have found the ones you can get from B&Q are not too bad (their own Diall brand) http://www.diy.com/departments/diall-gu10-65w-spot-led-light-bulb/237397_BQ.prd A reasonable colour and not too badly priced.
Mostly. But there is the occasional good product there, buried amongst aisle after aisle of complete crap. You just have to have the patience to find it. And I do that on the web before I go so I don't spend too long there.
