Group buy interest... Dellorto Carbs...

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Joker, Mar 19, 2012.

  1. Having seen some others efforts and the negative response received I must be mad, but, for those who genuinely might want to grab a bargain...

    There are 2 options -

Option 1 - I have an option on buying some refurbished dellorto DHLA 40mm carbs in volume. They will be supplied by me and I am buying them from someone based in the the UK. They can be jetted to suit. You will need to advise jet sizes for your application.

This is for a pair of carbs ONLY, so you will need throttle linkage assembly, air filters and manifolds which are readily available from the usual suspects. These will be as close to bolt on as possible but remember that they will have to be tuned to your engine.

They will be supplied as refurbished and as new - i'll take on returns on an exchange basis for anything proven faulty (i'll be inspecting everything before it leaves). I'm underwriting this myself, so no returns accepted because you can't tune them yourself or changed your mind...

These are genuine carbs, refurbished and sold as in new condition.

    £270 a pair + postage at cost.

I need 20 takers to get this price.

    Option 2 -

I know where there is a huge hoard of dells in Italy. They need refurbishing and I will be buying the job lot when I go back there in the summer. The plan is to have these refurbished to sell on, but i'll kindly let anyone on here have a pair on the cheap before they are refurbished, all I want at this stage is for people to register their interest. This offer is to buyers for their own use, not for traders. I don't have a price right now, but it will be <£100 a pair so an opportunity to grab an absolute bargain.

As I said, this is a genuine offer from an enthusiast NOT as a trader. You'll see that I am registered as a 'Sponsor' this is because I want the option to sell the vans i've imported through the site.

I'm doing this in a personal capacity and i'm not doing it to make money, so take it as good will if you like.

Banter freely entertained, anyone wants to slag it off that's fine - i'll report the post and remove the offer. Can't say fairer than that?

I'm approaching this on a first come first served basis. I 'll register the interest, take the list down and then make arrangements later regarding purchase and delivery. For option 1 I need 20 names, option 2 is about 40

  5. my understanding is that the smaller 36 are the ones you would want for a 1600 but I am far from an expert on this. If they are I'll check whether the 36 will be available also and the price for these.

For anyone who needs the information, these are an aftermarket carburetor in a similar type to Weber and along with Weber are considered to be a chief performance upgrade. Unlike Weber though dellorto carbs are no longer manufactured. Spares are however still readily available
    :)

  6. Could we also get a group buy going with someone to refurb the lot as I like the idea of twin dells but don't fancy the rebuilding of said carbs

  7. the ones for refurb i'm getting will go to the person i'm buying the refurbed carbs off. I'll offer them cheap on here to anyone who fancies having a go at this themselves. Either way it is an absolute bargain. For example, a pair of 40's will cost you £682.50 +VAT alone from a well known company.

Now, there is a huge difference, i'm sure that buying this way you get 100% confidence and come back on a trading company, that purchase would imply some kind of warranty.

Whilst I am not offering a 'warranty' if things go wrong i'll underwrite it. The parts will be inspected before being shipped, if there is a proven fault i'll exchange them, no questions asked. But just so its clear I am NOT a trader, so its much like buying from ebay, on here or used through any other outlet. I'm offering to underwrite it so my name doesn't get dragged through the mud should anything go wrong, but just to be 100% clear, these are USED items which have been refurbished

    :)

  8. Will they fit my type4 2.0 engine, if so what type of jets needed.
I'll be up for a set of refurbished ones if they fit.

If not enough people how much to get the others refurbished.

Call me a sado but at under £100 for a pair it's worth polishing them up and whacking a set of shiney trumpets on and putting on a shelf they look so sexy.

  9. Another T4 2.0 owner.. Worth a pair for back up..

Any chance of linkies to - throttle linkage assembly, air filters and manifolds?

    Ta.

  10. Put me down for option 2. T4 2L
    Thanks joker :)

I'll register an interest to get you going... albeit I'm undecided between bigger carbs or FI at the moment!!

Should've made my mind up by the summer though :)

Type 4 2L... looks like you'll be getting them all jetted the same at the mo!

Yes please option 2... If possibble 2 sets at this.

If you don't get the numbers for option 2 I am a possibble option 1.

Many thanks and I hope you get the numbers.

  13. how about 45's

  14. I'd be interested in option 2, would need to find out if they're compatible with my 1600 twin port, I like the idea of refurbing them myself, provided there were plenty of spares available, would be a good learning curve, I could tinker away at them and fit them at my leisure, and at under a ton a pair.... definatley worth it, would be interested to find out what power gains are to be had form twin carbs in an engine like mine :D

  15.
  16. I'd be interested in Option 2, as I know of someone who would be able to do the refurb for me. I've got a type 1 1776, so twin 40's I think would be OK if jetted properly.

Joker, just had a look at the Dell site and wondered if you know whether the DHLA would use the same manifold and linkage kit that is available for the DRLAs?
