  1. OK, so not vw show but is anybody going from TLB ? I was lucky enough to get a camper pass and was wondering if any of you have been and taken the camper along.
Also any advice of things to take etc really appreciate any of your experience's . Never been before and as I hit the big 50 this year thought I'd better give it a go !!

they have worked hard on traffic control but you will be arriving near peak time if you are in the east camper camping its easier
@Merlin Cat might be better to give advise as i am normally on site by then

  7. It's a fair distance from the camper fields onto site. Whereas in tents you are on site and can pop back quiclly to change etc, the camper van fields are a long walk and you need a passout and in each time, so we tend to enough booze and clothes for the whole day. Other than that its awesome, so much more space, quieter and friendly. you get loads of space so you can take an awning or a toilet tent or windbreak etc and make yourself a nice little home for the week. Glastonbury is brilliant and in a campervan you get to survive burning heat or pouring rain much better!

  8. Can't wait ! I've got the awning (just purchased a quick erect jobby).
What are the onsite shops like ? obviously expensive, well stocked ?

@GONA66 you appear to be copying my life! I went last year for 1st time, I was in my 50th yr too :)

We headed down on the thu. Travelling from Sheffield. Got there approx 11 pm, drove straight in, no queue. Stayed in van and went to bed as bit tired after the drive!

We took some 4 pint carry jars as couldn't be bothered to carry lots of cans etc. We filled them from cans in our van before we headed off and then got them filled whenever we went to the bar to not have to bother queueing so much.

I took trainers and wellies. My legs ached after wearing wellies one day as not used to them. We didn't walk tons apart from the night we went out with my family who were all tent camping. They must have been the complete other side of the flipping site. It took 1 hr to walk back to the van!

I didn't think the food was too v expensive. We tried to have one meal a day in the van and pay for one at the festival.

We took a drive away awning which is quite big. My family enjoyed camping and being nearer the action. I'm happy we went in the van and had a bit if a walk but could chill out at the van without it being too hectic around us.

My brother in law went on the wed at stupid early o'clock and had couple of hours in a queue. My nephew did the same in the thu.

  10. As Merlin Cat says food is typical for a festival or any event with a captive audience, not cheap, but not ridiculous. Plenty of variety from the usual burger vans to mexican, hog roasts, jerk chicken etc etc. You won;t go hungry. Shops wise there are a couple of camping outlets that sell socks, sleeping bags, lighters etc etc, but not much in the way of food supplies, so take a cool box full and a fair few tins etc with you to see you through a couple of meals to save you cash, and paying for a fry up etc. There are plenty of small cafe's and tea tents where you can get a brew and a cake/slice of toast. You can get a good pint of real ale too :) or cider if thats more your thing...

I forgot to go back and get a campervan pass when they went on sale, so am praying I get one at re-sale or I'll be in a ten this year!

  16. I went years ago when they put up the big double fence and before they squeezed out the lower classes. It was great. Can't say I would go again to a boring middle class festival with uni students and idiots. My only tip is take a cheap 2 man tent with cheap sleeping bags. Put that in the tented area inside. Then you have always got somewhere to crash if things get Marmite with the weather or your you got somewhere to eat your over priced food.
