His workmanship looks good, his pictures show cleanliness, which is good. Your right in what you say on the racers front, they will need rebuilds frequently. Our Group Leader at work has a '71 prototype bay running a 2332 type motor built by one of the VWDRC guys, I'll ask him if he's come across John in the past.
Ooh pictures, please. Does he run it on the strip? The box ratios make a massive difference, as far as I can tell.
I'll ask him and see if he will share some, which he might. He also has a hillclimb spec TR6, Ive not seen that either. I think he only uses his bus now and again, runs down to the south coast surfboarding is about its lot!
Slow it down with a taller gear, the revs will drop, but so will the fan's speed, your engine may not like that.
True but it’s rare that the engine goes above 110.c and that’s if I’m pushing 75 -80 I find those ears things do help a bit at 65 which is my usual motorway speed it’s 95o
The 1776 is still small and it is developing power with RPM like all engines. Drop the RPM and it can only develop less power. With taller gearing it may cease to be able to cope with hills in 4th that it can currently romp up. Fit soundproofing... Your optimum cooling RPM is about 4100 or 70-75mph with a stock box. I would not worry about oil temps of even 110C. I did worry about 125C so I fitted a cooler. This is not LA with miles of flat freeway ( now mostly nose to tail with traffic so even at home the Freeway Flyer is a bit of a waste of time...)
