Gasket ID again

  1. Sorry guys and girls I have another daft question

I have two seals from a victor reinz gasket set. I presume they are both flywheel o rings for different engines. I have a 2.0 GE code engine. Any ideas which I use?

I may be wrong about flywheel o rings. If I am wrong. Where do they go?

  2. The fatter one is for the flywheel... I think the smaller one is an internal seal for the oil pump

  3. Looks like ill be pulling that again as I didn't find one at all when I did the seal

  4. Did you take the oil pump completely to bits?

Does the O ring generally come with the flywheel oil seal or are they separate items? About to do one on a type4 myself.

  6. No I left pump as one piece and replaced gasket between mating faces.

Seal and o ring are separate when purchased silver

  8. That's where it's for dude... I double checked earlier... it seals the inside of the pump, and stops it leaking back into the case :)

  9. Ok thanks Paul I think I'll leave it as is then. I've had a really productive day and nearly finished putting the engine back together. It would really do my head in taking it all off again to get to that skinny o ring. I nearly undid the oil pump when it was out but it looked quite clean so I left it alone. That'll teach me!!!
