Where did you get with this relay thing @snotty? It's next on my list while I await delivery of my fuel cut off solenoid. Did you find a good source of those 555 timer based relays? Thanks.
Ok, you got me! It's a trick challenge isn't it? How do I make the GSF webpage show me that part, so I can get a price? I type the part number in and the darn site keeps asking me what car it's for tried a normally aspirated porker, says
GSF's search function is truly useless. Almost as bad as VWH's. I got mine from Euro Car Parts after Googling the part number. It was in a dusty box with (I think) an '89 build date on it . I did then splash out on the VWH one as a spare, but it's not really necessary. If it packs up, you can frig a socket for a standard 30A relay. They're both essentially the same circuit - a 555 working as a one-shot, driving the relay, with the mono retriggered by ignition pulses. They're both made by KAE. The older one has a DIP 555 and leaded components, the more recent one is surface mount. I'll use the older one: KAE 3.300.300. The other variants have a built-in fuse/holder for the pump supply. Can get something like a Ripart relay base from fleaBay: you'll need one that has provision for the full pin-out, so not one for a stock 4-terminal relay. They're pretty cheap. If you get slot-together Ripart kit, you can get a matching fuse holder that attaches to the relay base.
Oops. Yes it was Eurocarparts not Veewee. Senility set in. Just checked and they don't have it now though
Plenty of fuses there . No - the relay base appears to be one for four terminals. You need one that can accommodate the additional pin. They are available. This Samba pic shows the pinout. The relays seem to be in short supply (apart from VWH). Plenty in the US, it seems. https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=707733
Whoops that was the same link, cut and paste error between keyboard and seat. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331517013408
That looks like the one. Does appear to be made by Ripart, so you should be able to find a fuse holder that slots in next to it
