I’d rather mercedes embarrass the FIA with court action, not to reverse the result but to confirm the FIA were wrong in what they did, otherwise the rules are pointless if someone can make it up on the hoof.

I can't see the mighty Mercedes machine deciding against court action just because LH asked them to.
Through the year they have looked the the team who take it on the chin where Red Bull have been the whingers, so maybe that's more the angle. It's not good for PR to be sore losers resorting to the courts on such a major thing, it would be a shallow victory if they did win and paint them in a bad light.
What's done is done, they have more to gain by shrugging their shoulders and being gracious - everyone knows it was a farce already, that's enough.

  3. Hamilton asked them to back the equality stand he was championing which resulted in the ' silver arrows' being given a quick blow over in black ....
I'm no fan but he seems to be distancing himself from all the wrangling which speaks volumes - he , along with everyone except Red Bull knows he won , end of ...

I’m not a fan of WWE style of entertainment. I think I’m done.

There goes my Sunday afternoon nap. Tbf I don’t pay sky so only got the highlights anyway but still...

  7. You know, the more i think about this, the more i think this will go down in the history books as one of the defining moments of LH's career.

In the same way that any documentary about say, Schumacher will say how fantastic he was as a driver but his career was marred with several unsavory incidents, like trying to punch DC after he ran into the back of him in the rain, and deliberately crashing in to Villeneuve, Hill etc to stop them winning, or parking his car during qually at monaco etc.. i think the history books will quite rightly write about LH's victories and successes but also call out how his dignity and graciousness in defeat, in such unfair circumstances in 2021 sets such a great example

if it was me i'd be screaming and shouting and probably punch someone. i guess thats (one of the reasons) why i'm not a f1 champ :D

This was just as controversial as he’s not a uk tax paying resident.

But let’s not argue about that...

  12. Ah - but he does pay tax in UK despite not being a resident - probably pays more tax than all of TLB put together.
But if we like conspiracy theories - how about the similarities between what happened in the Singapore GP in 2008 compared this last one. Renault's Nelson Piquet Jnr crashed into a wall to bring out a safety car so that his No.1 team mate Alonso could go on to win . Renault and their team principal Briotore were subsequently banned from F1 . Strangely enough Max's girlfriend is Nelson Piquet's daughter and Nelson Jnr's sister!!

Says me based on him domiciled in a tax haven Monaco.

Maybe he does pay some tax but you can bet it won’t be as much as someone domiciled in the uk.

As much as I dislike tax evasion, the Times has an interesting view (copied from web)

"........It is also claimed that HMRC’s UK Income Tax Liabilities Statistics, published in 2019, put Hamilton among the top 5,000 highest tax payers in the UK.

Hamilton told the Sunday Times in 2014: “What people don’t realise is that I pay tax here [in the UK], but I don’t earn all my money here.

“I race in 19 different countries, so I earn my money in 20 different places and I pay tax in several different places, and I pay a lot here as well. I am contributing to the country and, not only that, I help keep a team of more than 1,000 people employed. I am part of a much bigger picture.”

  17. Briotore !!
That's the fella , I was trying to remember his name last night - ultimately rumbled and banned from F1 for life - another Italian cheat , and don't get me started about Ferrari and their willingness to manipulate results over the years...

Thinking about it… Prince Charles is probably the only Duchy he’s been happy to see all year.
