fitting 34ict dual today ..any helpful tips please

  1. Fitting me ict,s today and was wondering if theres any helpful tips to make my life easy whilst doing the job......

    Get a city and guilds qualified mechanic to do it.
     
  3. Yay i have that badge .......sorting me stuff last week ...can only find2 of me city n guild certs....one for underbody and brakes and another for servicing and sumthing else......so im half a job until i fi d the rest .....loooool

  5. Not sure of your terminology but if you're fitting a set of dual carb.s my advise is to remember to adjust their idle air flow separate (with a meter) before hooking them together. It all starts with them working and drawing the same air at the same time. I followed the steps in my Haynes manual (and after going back over it three times) seems to be working very well. Another hint, check and double check time first. Good Luck! (Mine has a 7.5 before top dead center. Made all the difference in the end.)

  7. i brought a air flow meter off flea bay.... i aint got twin carbs.... maybe one day.
    u tube tuning twin carbs seems simple enough with a air meter.
    as other post said disconect linkage. and also make sure its moving both links at the same time when reconnected.

  8. I haven't got any tips however i will be doing this over the darker months.

    Can you use a stock svda distributor or do you have to change to a 009, if you can use a svda how and which carburettor do you connect the vacuum pipe to.

  9. No tips Johnny I had mine fitted a couple of weeks and rolling roaded. Good luck you'll feel the benefit when it's done.

  11. ended up stripping the engine coz it was filthy ....now ive stripped it down ,i thought --sod it ...engine out ...so tomoz ..its engine out and on a bench and have good look around ....my exhaust was put on crap ....and i might as well weld me corner while engine out ....i give myself work ..... :)quite enjoyable
     
  12. If you have a 1600 engine then I would recommend getting a good linkage kit, I got the CSP belcrank one and its excellent.

  15. i was taking pics...took first pic of engine as is...then forgot about the rest as i was stripping it bare looool..ill take some tomoz promise..dib dib -dub dub ////get it ?

  17. stripped the engine bay proper today ..glad i did ...found babdly fitted fuel filter and a 30 yr old perished fuel line yo go with it....glad it didnt start otherwise johnny would be burnt to a crisp .....was going to fit em but had this urge to to take engine out and re do it all ,so i know its done proper ..glad i did ...hows canvey me old son ?

  19. made me angry finding em ....esp as lil one was init last year.....now im going at it like a health n safety advisor for bmw.......plus all my leccy connections were like a child doing em .....should have just checked and done em when i first bought the ting...
