And a bit of a trial run for next weeks Springcamp, It's why we have these things innit it'd be rude not to really so we and a few mates went Camping at Rutland Water, good times
Did you see the 80-90 T25 lot at the top of the field? I called to say hello to them yesterday dinner and spotted you, but didn't see anybody about.
Nice one, we'd gone boozer for a nice lunch I did'nt see them up the top, to busy looking over the water
Nice corals there @WoodyLubber, where did you get your mat thingy from? Was looking for them at shows last year by no one seemed to have them
You're one up on us - Eskdale next week will be the first time out this year - wonder what we will forget!
Great site Dave looking over the water, two pubs within walking distance and only £7 per night, you'd love it
Nice group of VDubs you and your mates have there! Looks a nice wee spot you had too. My first camp of the year was on about the 14th January, in my Renault not my VW. Took it up into the mountains beside Loch Ness, slid down a hill on black ice and got stuck overhanging a river in a 5ft snow drift. Stood for 2 or 3 house literally holding the van up from tipping further into the river late at night in -8 degrees until we were saved by a kind farmer and has tractor. So yeah, seems you've won when it comes to the most sensibly time to do a first camp
Like you I've had many a camping disaster Nowadays it's all down to good planning and not pre booking as many things as I can, I just turn up if that's at all possible It is a really good site thou and now they have built a beach just up the bay I might even go for my holibobs when it gets a bit hotter http://www.anglianwater.co.uk/leisu...tractions/mini-golf-and-other-activities.aspx
I think my cousin has a video of us being towed by the tractor! My camera was in the van, which we were pretty sure if either of us set foot in would tip into the river!
I'm 19, been driving campervans since the second I passed my test and I've already had a fair few disasters under my belt! Good planning... wish I had that skill... Sometimes at 8 at night I'll give my cousin a call and see if he wants to take the van out... Pick him up at 9 and find a nice wee place to set up camp by 10 or so. Then sit by an open fire till the wee hours, no planning but usually goes well Will check out that place if I'm ever down that way, my usual camping turf if either here in the Highlands or over in Ireland though
