Just been looking up the male vs female urine thing as I'd heard about male urine being better. It is down to hormones as well as more urea in male urine and it's less acidic. Acid -> bad for compost; urea -> good for compost.

Shewees do take some practice ....

I used one years ago at Reading festival when they were giving out free samples. It wasn't really any quicker than going the usual way, so I don't think it would keep the queues down. And yes, without going into details it does take a bit of practice .

 

Do they mean that you can pee more directional, like in a bottle? I'm fine with good old squatting behind a shrub or car usually.

 

Yes, which is handy for not having to go out of the van in the middle of the night for example, but you - ahem - have to control the flow a bit!

I guess they were invented so you could do it standing up and into a urinal, which takes up less room than individual cubicles. If the option's there, go behind a bush, it's a lot more simple! Mind you, they do look a bit better than the old cardboard ones.
