This one for Zed or Paul , have taken the fan shroud off the 1,700 to clean up but having trouble splitting the two half's apart , I know there are two dowels and you have to go a bit steady , But do you have to take out the dip stick tube or can you wiggle it free ? thank's in advance .

  2. The dipstick tube is attached to the front section of the fan housing.

Once you have separated the housing enough to clear the dowels you will be able to wiggle the rear section to pass over the tube.

    Good luck!

  3. I find it easier to get the halves apart when it's still on the engine.

  4. As TBR said

But with the addition of separating it with a flat blade screwdriver as close to the dowels as you can ;)

Cheers chap's it's well tight on worried i might bust the shroud , so i took it all off in the hope i might be able to drift it with a wooden drift close to where the dowels are . The oil cooler is so blocked there is not one bit of daylight through it , the yank's who last worked on it put a larger oil filter carrier and fitted to pipes (rubber ) pipes being a metre long with a 15 by 7 inch oil cooler on the end , presumably was fitted near the air intake . God damned doodle dandy's .

  6. Make sure you've got all of the M6 bolts removed, and the 3 M8s

Yep got the 3 bolts out, and the 8 slotted cheese head bolts , it's well tight on the dowels , if it doesn't behave it will have to be paraffin bath.
