Having volunteered at kids football for 15 years and having to be a linesman and put up/take down goalposts every week whilst other dads hide until kick-off, then disappear on the final whistle.......I can see similarities here with lots of ideas from sayers, but at some point sayers have to become doers...

I'd gladly contribute even though I don't have a van anymore, but I won't criticise any mods/admin or 'owners' for how the site is run or how it will need to be run in the future.

 

If the forum's run out of money, I'd suggest the the surplus wasn't "excess to requirements"

 

I have a certain unease about some members paying and some not, to be truly equitable then everyone should pay a membership fee and if they dont they dont have access. I have no idea how many active members there are on here so how much it would cost each active person. If it was a small sum I'd probably pay but realise the organisation is a logistical nightmare and one that I wouldn't want. It would be a massive shame to lose the information resources here.

Never realised there was a charity element in the sponsorship.

No. No access for non-members would kill the site stone dead. No Classifieds for non members (as an example) would be much better.

 

I'm sure I heard that at 'conference' today....!

 

So costs involved in running the site was exactly £1000?

 

Look, in life there will always be people who blag and take advantage of situations, remember the ones who drank your milk at University?
It woud be a pretty Marmite show if the site closed because people were pre-occupied with stopping people from getting something* for nothing.

*Something = access to an unofficial internet forum.

 

Thank you to all involved in running this excellent forum , theres loads more involved than just deleting a swear word . It gives me many a happy hour and has done so for many a year.
I for one appreciate all you do and support whatever is decided by yourselves.

Someone has suggested sticking up a poll on who would be willing to put their hand in their pocket and see if that’s a goer on a donation basis. Shall we do that? - would anyone like to do that or you can nominate me. If it’s met with tumbleweed, think again.

If it is and I’m sensing that @hailfrank is not madly keen on administrating it how would that work? existing mods willing to take on more or do we need more/different folk involved? I could help out doing something if it keeps TLB operating.

I’m not a prolific poster, but I do value the forum enough to help out in time and some dollar.

 

I don't read the room that way, sorry. I think HF is asking for something entirely different, but he's too polite to say. I think he wants to step back, just my point of view, of course.

If, on the other hand, a treasurer can raise and give HF the anointed amount and he's willing to continue as our host then I have no problems with that, whatsoever.

Here is a survey...it'll compile everything neatly and we can move on and put things into place, if required before april.

its very easy for us all to say things here, this will numerically show us the support or lack of.

its all anonymous so easier for people to show their opinions without fear
