See what's missing from the carb? I can't think what could have fallen off, but maybe you dropped a bit in without realising?
I had a peep down the throat, nothing obvious is missing. But then again i dont know my way around a carb well enough to know
OK, there isn't anything like you pictured that during operation could fall into the throat of the carb and end upbwhere it did. Therefore you dropped it down there or in the manifold and it sat on a valve, then probably jammed the valve open for a bit, then got right inside. My guess.
I'd have thought you might miss that when you put them together? Idle jet is part of the cut off valve. Main jet? Lucky it wasn't something harder I guess. You could actually just stuff it back together and sort the carbs...
yeah it would seem that way, but i haven't meddled with the carbs at all. It is a freak incident. I havent done jetting, i havent removed any bits of carb, and i have no explaination.
i reckon that is the answer, it has been in there since i had it. what i might do, is start piecing it back together and have is set up on the stand for demos. I'm not putting it back in, its out and gone. Ive made up my mind, much to many people's disapproval. lol.
It's a free way to be up and running, buying time to find all the bits for your conversion. I realise it's not much fun taking T4 engines in and out!
Im not desperate to have it on the road. Although it is insured and taxed, i have a van, and a car too so im not stuck at all. I am now on the hunt anyway.
^whs^... ..though I'd have a good look at starter alignment on that yolk before you try and demo it... gave me no end of pain! Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk
ok, so some bit of carb fell into the engine ,at sometime, and was brass, so got smashed up. But what actually was stopping the engine turning over, bent valve?
the big lump of brass that was in there. it would turn most of the way round but then the valve would open and the lump of brass would stop it rotating any further as it got stuck between valve and piston
oh, I though the brass got smashed into the head, need new glasses ;( Ps. It wasn't the accellerator pump jet was it, the one that hangs out into to the middle of the throat. ( guessing as haven't looked at my carbs in years)
It's an air jet but I thought it was not removable from my carb rebuild? Clever people will know better.. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
