EMPI vs Scat shifter

Turns out our missing reverse gear is down to a knackered shifter, so I need to get one ASAP to replace the broken EMPI we've got on at the minute.

I plan longer term on getting a Gene Berg but can't afford to do so at the minute, so need to order a temporary shifter.

I'm not a massive fan of the EMPI as it's so long and drives me insane on hill starts (but it is cheaper than the Scat), so have been looking at the Scats but troubled by a lot of reviews around how difficult people have found them to fit, albeit they seem to improve handling between gears.

Any thoughts? Good or bad experiences?

 

Zoe my honest thought is save and pay the extra and get the scat Its not that I have used either but empi seem to be very poor quality in most things and you get what you pay for

If you buy the scat bring it with you and we will have a fitting session at ours That will solve that problem for you

But bring your broken empi aswell I might be able to fabricate something bigger and better from it if you can waiit ;D ;D

 

Then its a done deal Mrs!! Might have to fit before I hit the voddy but thems the breaks!!

 

i've got a bog standard shifter so anything I write subsequently is oppinionated boll0cks, but here it is;

A bloke called Dave King told me that a decade ago & nothing I have seen subsequently has shown him to be wrong.

 

If its only a temp measure why not get a stock one from JK? i did just that about a year ago and its been fine, and its only about £30
Replace the plastic bushes too while your at it?

Why not get a standard shifter until you can afford the big boy?
Personally when I've got the bucks I'm going for a bugtech
