Ebay Dreamers

  1. Admittedly I have out of the VW scene for a couple of years, I also understand that prices fluctuate due to general economics. Now my understanding of fluctuate is the rising and declining of amounts unevenly.

Now this brings me to my point..... holy jesus christ on a bike, what the bloody hell are some of these people on ebay actually on, it can only be some of the most mind bending thought distorting drugs imaginable.

I won't put on here the adverts I've seen and physically laughed at for obvious reasons. I find it a little sad that what used to be hobby, way of life, interest or pass time call it what you will, is now excruciatingly expensive.

I'm sure some people will maybe come to the conclusion that this post maybe about me not being able to afford the job in hand and to a very very slight degree that's right, however is not the reason.

I hope I'm not the only one in class to stand up and say this.

I do also realise that there are still some genuine people selling goods be it new or second hand at very reasonable prices.

  2. I see the creamy Beige once a Westy is back on the for sale posts, Facebook, ebay etc. The one that now has a flat floor instead of ribbed for nearly £15k ha ha ha

The bottom edge of the sill seems scuplted too. And the centre chassis rail looks gnarly..

  10. I always think you can tell if it’s a listing by someone who’s into these old buses, or someone who maybe bought one hoping to make a massive mark up and is now looking to bail out by looking at the add pictures.

if I was selling one and I’d spent a small fortune on welding, like some adverts claim. I’d at least have a lot of pics of all that expensive welding I’d paid for. But in a lot of cases I suspect the owners aren’t exactly sure what they were paying for in the first place.

let’s be honest anyone on here’s gonna put pics of battery tray, cab steps, out riggers, gutters, round the windscreen, front beam etc then a few pictures in would start the interior shots.

most adverts I see they are trying to sell the lifestyle, cos you know that’s how they were suckered in. Then they discovered that surprise surprise 40 year old metal rusts. So they have one summer out of it. Smear it in three inches of under seal and eBay it.

  13. To be fair you could probably stand on the street and follow the drips of under seal all the way up that guys drive.

  14. A lot of the T2’s and for that matter other campers & vehicles are listed by fraudsters.
They seem to list the same cloned vehicles roughly every week under different ebay accounts. The giveaway is often the location which is listed as UK. Don’t believe all you see as being cosha on fleabay.

  16. Well I've had a closer look at some adverts tonight on ebay and found that there is a rough pattern.

The word rare is used far too .such in my opinion. A lot of the crap they are trying to pedal isn't rare at all.

A lot of the adverts tell you these are worth a fortune when they are finished, then fail to point out that they absorb a Sultans small fortune to become something worth selling in the price bracket they are all ready asking for.

In some of the description write ups the busses are stated as original......... with metallic paint schemes and nothing short of make shift IKEA interiors...... hhhmmm the plot thickens.

  17. I also wonder if some people think that what ever you spend on a bus then gets added to the valve. For instance someone buys say a panel van conversion for 5k. It’s rotten as a pear. They then spend £15k over a few years on welding, paint, interior etc. Then when they come to sell it, because there are dry state imported Westie berlins with original interiors and paint listed for 20k, and they’ve spent 20k on their bus as well, then their bus gets listed for 20k, despite being a nice chopped up panel van.

  18. Can I also say that on the point I have raised here today that I have spoken to a very nice gentleman today who is selling some parts at reasonable prices, we negotiated the price discussed what we thought would be an acceptable price, agreed on it, I will be picking these up parts up at the weekend. I am very happy with the deal.
