E10 fuel

    And billions of engines aren't certified by the manufacturer to use E10 fuels.

    At the end of the day...it's a personal choice whether to use any fuel additives to counter issues that come with using E10 and we should respect those choices

  3. Quite so, but this is back in the day when garages had a man to fill your tank and they could also add a shot of Redex from a dispenser next to the pump. It cost very little and you didn't need to buy a bottle and add it yourself - it was very easy to believe the hype and just keep adding it. At the moment I'm disinclined to believe in the need for an additive, but I'm still researching it.

    It's always a laugh to read the MSDS for the expensive pretty little bottles.. strangely most of them read like diesel with a few solvents / volatiles to help starting or detergents..

    Nothing you can add is really going to be able to stop 10% ethanol doing its stuff. You can add ether or similar to old petrol to recover its mojo, but mostly this is a prime application of fear uncertainty and doubt, practiced by salesmen since forever.
