I didn’t realise people still used blankets tbh. They probably use gas lamps and listen to that Mr Churchill on the Crystal set. I.e. early-bay owners.
Sorry Nick, I was just quoting Trevor and Simon (“Swing your pants!”)from Saturday Morning kids TV. I most certainly do do duvets
In that case, you still have my admiration for quoting Trevor and Simon, must dig my vhs out of those two.
I nominate my nan for having the coldest sheets in Britain they were freezing mind you the whole of her prefab was freezing ,there was ice on the inside of the bedroom windows
In Russia, they used to use blankets inside a duvet cover, very clever and very warm, easier to make than hospital corners too I am full of useless information, or something like that
Actually I like a candle wick bed spread. We still have them at dads, complete with gaps where we used to pick the stitching out when we were kids
Proper wool blankets are pretty good. On top of our sheets and blankets we had down filled quilts in the 60's, they were old hand-me-downs, so nothing new there, it's the sheet incorporation isn't it? Simple genius idea IMO. We had ice on the inside of the windows too back then. In fact I had ice on the inside of my windows this morning but I didn't feel even a twinge of nostalgia.
In the mid 70s, as a schoolboy i used to work for a man that pitched out bedding at our local markets but on Sundays we used to go to Skegness to pitch the bedding there, we used to take three 3 Ton vans full of boxed, 100 percent nylon Duvets and sell everyone of them , couldnt get enough , they were pink, purple, red ., yellow and orange all kinds of strange colours, i bet they were like sleeping in a electric chair- shocking
