  1. I have drop spindles from america. They are a 2 inch drop and narrow the track by 12mm each side,

 Don't think so there'd be nowt left of them bar the spindle itself. Think you got that the wrong way round or zillions would sell and peeps wouldn't need to narrow their beams.

  5. I can't find the seller but it wasn't wagens west. Defo bought these ones because they were narrower, a tiny bit. It was 5 years ago though so can't remember exactly

  9. Ha ha good idea buddy but she would rip me nuts off if I went anywhere near those!

  10. My one and only question is are they TUV tested or similar with cert to back it up ?

  11. Ref the track increase, those heritage items say "offset +1 cm per wheel" in the blurb. I think what they mean is that it increases the track by 20mm.

IIRC the spindles that transporterhaus sell have zero track increase: http://transporterhaus.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=71&Itemid=174

I'm at stock height and i've looked at all the options out there and for me its going to stay stock until i can afford to go for the red9 wishbones. On the face of it the kit looks expensive but if you factor in what your getting (dampers, springs, r&p steering etc) and offset the cost by selling your stock beam, steering box etc its no so bad.

The Red9 kit isn't certified is it?

  13. I dont think any of the kits available to lower are certified. Can someone provide more detail?

  14. Yep that's what they say. They flip their spindles upside down and require non-standard ball joints and other bits for future replacement. I want to keep all that other stuff at stock for ease of future replacement. Some people I have spoken to report a very soft ride with these and therefore also recommend replacing the shocks etc too. Again, none of the solutions are without their pro's and con's

Transporterhaus have a shockingly bad reputation.

    And SSVC

  17. so your willing to put your life and the lives of others on a product that may have had no proper testing done ? are you mad ? why are they cast and not drop forged ? what about insurance when the spindle snaps ? I have seen pics of 3 of the coil over kits fail and 1 pic of the wishbone kit fail where a bearing seized and caused the spindle to sheer off ........

  18. Let's not single out any particular solution. On the basis that none of the kits out there to lower seem to be certified (and I don't know this for sure hence me asking someone to provide more detail and I know VWH are looking into this) then everyone and anyone who has ever lowered has taken that risk - be it adjusters (whihc can be fitted badly as I have seen!), aftermarket beams, flipped spindles etc etc. And that has been going on for 10's of years too. And for Beetles as well. And liklely for a whole host of other aftermarket parts. Perhaps it doesn't make it 'right' (define that how you will) but this is not an new issue?? Those who want to stay with stock, stay with stock. It's a choice and one that is made every single day.

I work in a very similar industry as those who provide the relevant testing so I completely understand the best practice in this area.

Geez ever feel like you are getting an arse kicking for attempting to do something nice?

First of all I don't want any dropped spindles  Stock rules. Some early tin tops look cool but Late bays look better and drive better stock height  In your mind as you say your just trying to do something nice and good on yer for trying, but the problem here as I see it is that as your not very well known on here yet, people won't know how to take it, this place as become fractious, full of little cliques, I know because I was in one  if you were in one of these cliques every one innit would've said it was a great idea and pushed it and would keep posting to keep it going, those in another cliques would've either ignored it or posted against it, that's how this place works, get used to it, Zed is a guru on here so whatever he says goes, he knows his stuff so your onto a loser straight away if he or another big poster disagrees with you, after a few months if you keep posting you might get into a clique or a group, then you'll get invited to secret invite only camps, only go to shows where they go or get the in jokes and the like, Infact Iv'e just had a invite only camp at The Tour de Yorkshire, but because it was invite only why would I come on here after and gloat or then tell everyone how great it was because 99.9% of you wernt there  anyway as you say. Shame on you for trying to get cheaper parts but find your feet first or it'll get shot down in flames :hattip:
