Do you get a bonus !!

  1. I work for Timpson
    And I get a weekly bonus worked out on my wage bill ,anything over my target and I get 15 % to share with my staff depending on the skills they have.
    It's a good fair system
    The basic wage isn't the highest but I can double it sometimes with my bonus, just have to work harder.

  2. I'm lucky - if I work really hard, put in extra hours and achieve what I'm supposed to do - I get to do it again next year with no pay award!!

  3. ditto ::)

  4. I think he was foolish to give the bonus back, this could have a real negative impact on our whole banking community and the sheer drivel millibank is spouting could cause us to plummet into a deep recession if he forces mega high tax on bonuses..... They will just bank off shore and pay NO tax at all, with the way they let manufacturing decline in this country, banking is one of the few industries we have left that turns a profit. And i do not get a bonus other than, if i excel this year i will have a new contract next year (rinse and repeat)

    I once got offered promotion to a branch manager of a commercial window installer/mender. I wasn't keen and they tried to tempt me with a bonus - 1% of profits
    "what's the profit margin?" I asked
    "2% of turnover"
    I'm ok at maths, so I had a quick tot-up....
    "so I have to turn over £5,000,000 to get £1,000?"
    "oh, ah, I haven't done the maths"
    "Not much of an incentive is it Roger!"
    If you get offered promotion you don't want, the best thing to do fairly promptly is resign, so I did. :)

  10. Woody, it's not a question of 'just turning up' I work bloody hard and it gets progressively harder each year.

    I started to write a long response to this, but, you know what? We are a very diverse group of people on here, some public, lots of private and some self employed, and we all work hard, we all have different political views and we all have some sort of performance management. Some people's PM means, they get a bonus, some, nothing; for some, it's a way of extracting more for the same wage or less.

    Manual work, office, teaching or whatever; we financially support this country, have a right to question how our money is spent and we all deserve a bit more respect.

  14. I think your confusing the average high street banks with investment banking which is what i was referring to as well as hedge funds, its these people that can make and break countries.... That said, most uk banks made a profit in 2010 (2011 figures not released yet) but first 3/4 year results for most UK banks shows them in profit. Those results are there for all to see, just use google.. You can even see that "thebrooke" the sponging gits that show the donkeys on tv starving have 11.4 million in available funds and their top 4 employees earn over 80k each with 24k annual pensions on top + expenses which average 12k PA ;-)
