Assuming of course it was in a suitable container, would you carry spare fuel for your camper inside your camper?

no, i leave it to a combination of watching the fuel guage planning and the AA man getting me some when i run out ;)

  3. Only if my fuel gauge wasnt working

  4. I use to all the time in a plastic container in the cupbard next to the gas bottle as my fuel gauge use to not work.
I havent recently though as I've had it mended.

  5. I carry a metal 2 gallon can under the bed with the tools, its far far less dangerous than my gas bottles in the wardrobe, the fuel wont just explode in an accident in a massive fire ball like films, it wont even do that in a fire really and hopfully in a fire you would be well clear of it anyway

    Yes.
We carry a spare 10 litre plastic jerry can of fuel. Mainly due to the distances between petrol stations down here, only ever had to use it twice. :-[
As long as it's in an approved container there shouldn't be a problem.

I carry and empty plastic petrol container as most garages won't let you fill up a non certified can - and having accumulated 4 of the things over the years have learn't my lesson.

I don't carry fuel in it though.

  9. I do, most of the time. It shouldn't be an issue at all as long as it's in a suitable container as mentioned before. :)

  10. personaly i dont, but i beleive if you travel off our island and go continental you NEED to carry one. ITS THE LAW. it does not however need to be full. if i go continental i carry a full gallon in the cupboard.

  11. I have a 5ltr plastic jerry can in the van - don't really use it but it's there for if I ever broke down and had to walk to a near by garage to fill up

i have a 5 litre plastic one that i carry empty just incase i ran out and had to walk (unlikely - i've never ran out in 25 plus years of driving) and i have a 20 litre metal jerrycan which i will fill up when i fill the vehicle to top up on the way home etc as i usually find petrol in wales for example is a fair bit more expensive than sainsburys near where i live and i always fill up before i go away.

    No as that's beer space.
The van can get pretty hot so don't fancy the smell and i cant remember the last time i run out.

  14. That's just another unnecessary lump to take up space in the bus when packed for camping. I just make sure my fuel guage works, and fill up at quarter mark.

  15. Never carry fuel in the van, my gauge is a bit dodgy as it drops of to empty when it gets to half full.

So i fuel up when that happens.

  16. I was about to say one would have been handy recently when we were running on fumes as we drove through the lions enclosure at Longleat Safari Park - then it occurred to me: who was going to get out and fill up the tank? Weirdly in my mind's eye it was Yorkshirecampers, not me.

  17. when necessary I carried a 20l jerry can, and it found itself very useful on a far distance, some eastern countries you really want to avoid their fuel, some for the price, and some for the fuel itself, but for camping... no. wtf for?

  18. We carry a plastic 5L fuel container with fuel in it.

Sometimes the fuel goes in Arthur

Sometimes the fuel goes towards starting a bonfire

No, it's taken 12 months to cure the petrol smell, i would like some time in the van without it. Even sealed cans make your van smell. :(
