I bought my grandson a metal detector, quite a good one. Well we were on a club trip to Greatstone near Dungeness and we thought the long beach and dunes would be ideal for the new gadget. Lovely sunny day, fish and chips, good beach, excellent. So as not to disappoint my grandson on the first test of the detector, I quietly went ahead and pushed about £4 of coins in the sand near the car park and along the pathway to the beach. Very soon, there was the excitement, look grandad I have found 20p followed by one or two other coins totalling about 80p. I thought I would have a go and you know I found all sorts of metal debris but no more money! Never mind, grandson was happy. But I lost about £3.

Yes, its been a fantastic series. Its one of those series where they just seem to have got everything right, the cast, the script, the location and the premise of the whole detectoring thing. Look forward to the Christmas special now.
Loved it, so much about it was spot on, almost made me want a metal detector but I don't need another hobby that takes me into fields with geeky weirdos , got two of those already!

christmas special 23 december. i'd love a 3rd series but realistically where does it go..... already repeating jokes etc best to be a classic.
One more series I reckon. It's been one of the beebs better ones for a while. I am definitely putting the dvds down on my Christmas list. Lance reminds me of you. Andy paradox.
did you find the in joke with simon and garfunkel? their actual surnames are revealed as "peters and lee" i love a little bit of an in joke like that, i'd watched each episode loads and only just noticed that.
