Daisy's 1968 deluxe beetle full restoration

1st update of the year been quite busy but now back in full swing now updates should be regular again !! Not much to see but got new gas bottle over Xmas so welded the passenger rear quarter fully allso the b pillar and ground off then started prepping/ punching holes and cleaning metal ready for the rear cross members to be fitted the weekend!! Then was late so back on to some filler work near re shaped the front drivers door a pillar after remaking it all ect and it's getting there allso put filler in a few other places ready for some nights sanding!!

Had a good session on it after work managed to get to r/h cross member in and all the little plates made up to fill the holes I got left as was totally trashed down this area !! But the complete top just needs a clean up with the grinder and bit of paint and seam seal will look like new , just gotta weld it in underneath and then the other side (which is even worse more plates need making )

Another big bit ticked off I may even get onto the rear archs tomorrow

Another good day today been on my knees all day so had enough !!
Started off by getting the bug out and clearing the tent with 2 bin bags of leaves !!
Then got to work on the l/h cross member and filling all the holes left !!
Got it all done and a cost of stone chip finished it off very happy with this !!


Massive ate in the right direction if u scill back to the first few pages this was all missing !!!

Was not done yet so cleaned out the rear arch and bolted in the rear mounting pannel (this took a while as I made this inner tub myself ) but got it in and welded in sweet allso cleaned out the 1 seed gutter and cut out a bit of rot not as bad as I fort this side so rust cured it all inside also !! Moving on fast now ............


All in all a massive few days now to hit the carling !!

Looking at the pics it's obviously behind you now....

 

Spent 2 hours trying to get this bloody rear mount pannel to fit (it don't ) looked on line and found for 67/68 models u have to modify it now a tweek here and there ok but this just doesn't fit mounting bracket 25 mm in wrong place ! So stripped it apart and went off the other side which was sweet and gonna weld it in later in the week now it's in shape !! Then cracked on with some filla work and allso gave the gutters a bit of prima and some areas Iv fillers to give me a bit of a guide to go on what shows up

I just bought another tin of bonda for mine, though the postage was nearly the same price as the paint.

You have certainly improved it....

 

It's getting there want it painted by spring as got mate booth for x2 weekends !!

 

Nice. That'll make it a helluva lot easier than painting under a tent on the drive.

 

I no it's a game changer !! Never painted so he gonna loan me 1 of his guys to show me how to Mix paint act and use both !! Iv today allso managed to borrow a flat bed truck to transport it from work so I need to do a massive push on it now whilst all this is in place
