my next door neighbour works for the council, he just moved departments and now does clearance of houses - usually if someone dies etc, anyway he cleared an old guys house who had died and they found him after 3 months...... :( anyway this old guy bought a mini metro in 1993 brand new, in 1998 he drove it into the garage and it never came out again...... it's done 14,000 from new and is like it came out of the showroom yesterday my neighbour was told if he wanted the car he could have it but had to move it that day, he did and today it's passed it's mot and all is good - the mot man said it was like new, now my neighbour knows i've been moaning the beetle is fuel thirsy and i've toyed with getting shot so has offered me the metro for £600..... i must admit i'm tempted just because it's a bit of a novelty to have a "new" old car..... is this a crazy idea or can anyone else see the novelty factor of this idea.

  2. Buy it. I would, if I were in your position. Get shut of the pump-sucking Beetle.

YOU GUYS ARE SERIOUS RIGHT? i thought i'd get slated.... it's a 1.1 but has a 5 speed box it was the first year of the new shape metro that was slightly more rounded at the front, it has a cat but no sensors the cat is just inline on the exhaust the car actually had 3/4 tank of fuel in and started straight away and ran with just a jump start, my neighbour had to pay £80 to the dvla to get the logbook and have the check done to prove he could legally claim it. I've seen a picture of it and it does look like new, i've said i'll go and view in the week, let's say i had it just to sell on - would it be worth anything as a "classic" or anything?

  7. If u don't want it can you get it for me ;-) I'd have it no probs (I'm thinking for my son as its gotta be peanuts to insure compared to most)

  8. do it rick!

  9. I would have it, one of the guys at work has a mint f reg metro with 20000ish on the clock he's had it from new, there's something quite cool about them now in a 80's retro way
As we are talking about old rovers, my best bud is selling his late fathers rover 214 auto r plate 1 owner 40000 miles ( i think but can check )
