Think I saw a TV series, celebrities walking it? If it’s the same thing it looked picturesque regardless of religion or not

  3. No , but I was at the cathedral in January... major construction going on inside . But that’s probably normal and ongoing... 3DB2C2E5-5F15-45E7-BD56-E17182FF319A.png 9DC01D3F-4774-4569-B2DE-EF7CFE177078.png

  4. St James' Way? Always wanted to do this, tho I suspect while some of it is idyllic, some of it passes thru some iffy areas. Most folk seem to stop in the hostels, not sure if they are open at the moment?

  6. There's a great book written by some nutter who wanted the authentic experience and took a donkey with him , worth a read for the insider information.

  7. I'm interested in doing it in the future, after Covid.

  8. I did some bits of it and saw a lot of others doing it (quite a few barefoot and some crawling!) when I went over to do San Fermin (Pamplona) a few years ago. I can definitely see the appeal.

  10. I think he walked it, rather than rode, the donkey carried his stuff, I did read the book, but it was a while ago.

  11. I was thinking more on the lines that it was a donkeys’ idea to go.

  13. Oh no, if you read the book, from what I recall, the donkey was ambivalent about the whole experience, at best.

  14. Wouldn’t you..?

You realise that walk can start at Mont Saint Michel if you really want to do the full thing....

  16. The lovely Debbie McGee did it plus some others I don't remember. I've travelled the route in August/September but not walked it. There's hundreds of miles of blazingly hot dusty roads I wouldn't want to tackle at that time of year, but if you were a true pilgrim you'd want a bit of hardship. Santiago is a great city worth visiting.

Is that part of the Camino (?) trail?
If so, a mate of mine took three weeks off work, and did it.
He was amazed by the Variation people, that he met, along the way.

    Bit like life, I s’pose?

    But wearing tougher footwear.
    :)

You'll find signs with a scallop shell like this all along the route.
