Clarkson on the one show

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by mandy, Nov 30, 2011.

  1. the BBC will be issuing an updated statement today. Yesterday they issued a statement saying that "over 5,000 people have complained"

Today they will release the updated and more accurate statement that "5,000 public sector shoppers have called to complain, 15.4 million private sector workers have called to agree with him"

    :)

  2. the problem is - when you are in the public eye you do need to be slightly careful in what you say.

loose women say things i always disagree with but i never write in and complain. some people just have too much time on their hands

  4. I thought it was sheer quality this morning on daybreak when they had some TUC or other union knob who was there to blast Clarkson, all he kept harping on about was how absurd it was for Clarkson to mention public killing, he then informed the public that he and his union spend countless hours working in Guatemala with their workers as they "really do get shot for being in a union" All I could think was, well I am glad I am not in your union paying MY money for you to sod off to another country to look after their workers............. the guy made Clarkson sound clever ! scary............I reckon he is an ex public sector worker that lost his job so became their union rep as he wanted to protect his pension ;-)

  7. Another chance to have a pop at Unions and Public Sector workers eh. Thought the discusion was about Clarkson. Personally I though it quite funny and I take Clarkson for what he is..... It wont harm his booksales I suspect!

I can understand why some Union leaders are a little upset by this after all the Trades Union Movement is worldwide and in some countries members and organisers have been murdered for daring to try to get a better life for them and their families. It is probably worth remembering that no-one gave us the employment rights we have nor the terms and conditions a lot of us take for granted - they were hard fought for by workers. Dont think there are many upper class and upper middle class folk on here and I guess most of us come form working class or lower middle class families. Lest we forget eh!

  9. How exactly do you establish class these days? What your mum / dad did for a living, what you do for a living, how much you earn, where you shop etc. I'd say it's almost impossible to define class now where a lot of skilled manual "working class" people earn more than someone in a "middle class" occupation like a teacher.

  10. Walk round the shopping areas in Sutton Coldfield and Solihull, then walk round Erdington ::)

No offence to anyone who lives in those areas :)

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

Do you work? You're working class.
Do you own a business and play golf and chat for a living? - middle class
Toff? - upper class - there aren't many.
    Not hard is it.

  14. Having seen the aftermath of a jumper on the early morning train to gatwick, I can tell you it's a mess. At first I thought it was a smashed up mannequin but then saw all the people in white jump suits with limbs and stuff. Not a nice way to go and must give the driver nightmares for the rest of their lives...
