Only put one string of lights up today ‘cos it’s Christmas. Neighbour asked me if they were solar, the other said “I’m not giving Putin my Money,I’m not bothering this year etc.
We don’t put the heating on much, as we burn wood on the burner.
Have any of you felt the same?

  2. Are your neighbours rather dim?

  3. Bah humbug

We haven’t put the icicle lights up this year but we have lights on the rose bush in the front garden. We have quite a lot of lights around our village. I like it. It’s pretty and cheers us up when there is precious little to cheer these days

Have you never been to Vlad Stores? He sells lights, novichock by the litre, bears to wrestle…. All sorts

  8. Yeah we normally put up a load of lights ... when I say we ... I mean me. This year I thought it wasn't logical to sit in the cold with the thermostat turned down at the same time burning a load of electric on some Christmas lights. Humbug is what it is.

  10. I’ve just put up some more Christmas sparklies today. How many pennies do we recon a set of low voltage led lights is going to cost to run for a few hours over the next two weeks
Don’t think Putin will benefit much from it.

  11. They will consume bugger all current.

    Surely that is irrelevant.
    Energy is wot counts innit.
Give it to me in Watts or Joules!

My wife has some Joules wellies. Bit overpriced for my liking.

  15. Mr Joule of energy unit fame was related to the Joules Brewery family. Not a lot of people know that.

Christmas lights on the outside of the house every year, and no different this year (I don't actually bother taking them down!)
Lights on me Christmas Tree in the house, on all the time that I'm there.
It's Christmas, and it makes me happy. End of.
If I have to economise in other areas to pay the 'leccy bill, so be it.

In the old days you could set fire to your house with the electrical load and heat from christmas lights. With LEDs the power drops a lot, so its much less than heating..

We regard having one string of lights outside as "tasteful" .. and its light stops me falling in the pond or tripping over flower pots..
