Choke query.

  1. I'd add that I've looked at some old carbs I have to see what's possible. You can't adjust the fast idle or the warm idle to the 0.1 and 0.6 mm gaps with the carbs on the engine because the venturi gets in the way. However if we assume the warm idle setting is OK, then the fast idle only needs to be approximate. The idea (it seems to me) is to allow more air through the main flap when the choke flap is closed, but once you're warmed up the fast idle setting doesn't matter.

  2. Set our Solexes up with this and they were pretty good, shame the sound drops off at the interesting bits!

You end up changing the choke open bit when you're tuning the engine on the idle screw but setting the throttle stop to touching plus 1.5 turns with the choke open is usually close.

For choke 'on full ' adjustment its best done off the bench like in the video to get the throttle plate 0.6mm open (a piece of welding wire).

Why would anyone with a Bay have welding wire ?

Adjusted the 2 nuts on the bar to match the drivers side, but it's not made any difference.
Going to take them off and set up as per video.
Do I need a new carb to inlet manifold each time the carbs taken off?
The carbs were refitted 18 months / 3k miles ago.

If not damaged, you can reuse.
