Car tax

  1. Heard this on the wireless earlier (hoping I understood this right ) When the new system starts of having no actual tax disc to display, if you buy a taxed car then the unused portion of tax will be refunded to original owner, so the new owner must buy their own tax before driving the vehicle.

  2. Correctomundo. :)

Await feck ups galore from our friends in Swansea who, I am reliably informed, are nowhere near ready yet.

  3. I think it was an AA guy they had on talking about it, I reckon he was of the same opinion! They did a survey and majority of people knew nothing about it, so thanks Dvla! I'm sure they'll be most accommodating when unsuspecting punters fall foul of the new rules.......

  4. Of course they will.

  5. i hope their digital , is better than the tv . number plate recognition lol this could be a right fee ass co up

it's a great stealth way of losing a months tax, sell your car on the 27th may and taxed until end june - get a month back, sell on june 1 you lose it all but new owner has to buy a month....

  8. Approx 40 million vehicles in the UK, each disc costs approximately £7 to create, administer and send, all the records are electronic anyway. You do the maths. :)

  9. £280 million (just for @poptop2 'cos he can't count)

we can now afford to let more people in and watch them sit outside the pub while we drive home from work.

  17. Could be worse, could be made to do 5 days training before you can have a tax disc!

  18. It's a bit like the Dartford Crossing getting rid of the barriers and moving to a system of cameras similar to the congestion charge you pay in advance or after you have completed the crossing, Dart Tag will still work, I know it will speed up the crossing but some foreign registered vehicle drivers are going to save some money!!
