  2. Chassis number or a picture of M-plate (small silver/painted one behind the seat) would help

Also may have a chassis number on a riveted plate here on dash?

The fuel filler looks late, as does the steering wheel.

Im not sure what year vw starting painting over engine lid and tailgate locks either…

  6. Looks a 71 crossover?

  7. Hmmm, half moon vents, low lights, round rear lights but, as said, no fuel flap, and yes a later dash

    More likely South American?

Edit Take the last comment back after seeing m-plate.

  10. That's a bitsa, early column, late doors, early slider. Probably started life as a 68 ish but has been subject to "what's available repairs"

It also has wrong rear wheel nut spacing for that year. So thats at least 1970 onwards ...

Rear valance is post 72 permanent valance. Definitely not a 68 at the rear

    It’s definitely a bitsa. It’s a earl.y doka with a combi back grafted on!

  17. I think it's Doka with a graft, too, but not certain it's an early.

    Different VIN number
@Abdul has it got a vin number in the engine bay, or is it just on a plate ?

That's decoded directly from the image of the m plate posted earlier (62 088 373)?
